Apple, Banana, Orange, Spinach and Kale are all you need to start this smoothie party. Oh, and a blender of course 😉
The colour comes from the addition of fresh spinach and kale. Not a fan of kale in your smoothies? Not to worry! The orange balances out the “green” flavour in this smoothie, helping the sweet, fruity flavours to come through.
Pile all those goodies into your blender, add a bit of water and turn that baby on high. Let it whirl for about 3-4 minutes, or until smooth, and you’re all set to pour yourself a giant glass of My Favourite Green Smoothie.
I started having green smoothies for breakfast about 2 years ago and instantly noticed a difference in my health. I had more energy throughout the day, I felt less bloated, my skin was clearer, my nails were stronger and I just felt “better” overall.
I’ve experimented with all sorts of different flavours and additions to this green smoothie recipe - cucumber, celery, berries - and I always end up coming back to this old standby. Hence, why it’s my favourite 😉

- 1 cup water
- 1 cup kale
- ½ banana, frozen
- 1 apple, cored and chopped
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1 orange, peeled and in sections
- Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender, in the order listed.
- Blend on high for 3-5 minutes, or until smooth.
